How do you find the right mattress? You go on a Road Trip!
I know the headline sounds crazy, but let me fill you in on the backstory.
(From a friend): After we married, we lived on a tight budget; we were very young and poor and bought a used mattress on Craigslist. More than a decade later, we realized we were both waking up sore. It took us another year to realize “Oh, it’s the old mattress” and we decided to buy a new mattress. I don’t know about you, but deciding on a new mattress for two people who sleep very differently can be challenging and it turns out, not so inexpensive. You constantly hear you should invest the money in something you spend one-third of your life on, then there’s the inundation of advertising for the right mattress.
So what’s our logical next step? We have a conversation and we both have traveled for work and realized sometimes you wake up in a hotel/motel feeling great, and sometimes feeling sore. So what was our solution? Let’s go on a road trip around Washington State and we will pick different brands (Marriott, Embassy Suites, Hilton, Hampton Inn, and even a Motel 6) and rate each mattress based on how we feel in the morning, then find out exactly what the brand, type, model of that mattress is. Smart, right?
We didn’t do this all in one road trip, we did this on some weekend journeys around the Pacific Northwest, and the plan was to accumulate notes. Insert our notes here.
One great location to watch outdoor live music is the Gorge in George, WA. On this trip we just not to stay at the campground and we found a decent hotel in Moses Lake, WA. The next morning after the concert…
